The challenge:

Based in White Plains, ConEdison Solutions (CES) is a prominent energy services company (ESCO) providing competitively priced energy supplies and energy management services to companies and individuals.  A subsidiary of Con Edison, the firm also offers clean and renewable "Green Power" to energy users in the New York City area.  CES sought public relations support from The Marino Organization to generate positive visibility and build its customer base.     

The strategy:

After a focused, strategic development process conducted jointly with the client, TMO developed a customized communications campaign encompassing media relations, strategic counsel, marketing services, community affairs and government relations.  The strategy includes media training for CES spokespeople, and the pinpointing and development of CES story lines that carried the potential for tier-one media coverage.  We worked with the client’s customers to position them as CES “success stories.”  The plan also called for TMO to combine our media relations, marketing and event management expertise to help CES launch new offerings and services, including the Green Power offering.

The results:

TMO’s public relations services have helped strengthen CES’ competitive position in the energy marketplace.  For example, the agency conceived and managed an ambitious Green Power launch event in the heart of Times Square that attracted widespread media attention, generated new business leads, and enriched CES’ relationship with clients and several government agencies.  TMO has built strong media platforms for CES clients as energy industry “success stories.”  Several trade publications have published CES bylines addressing energy issues.  TMO has helped CES enter new service territories, and has provided media training for broadcast and print interviews.  The company has attracted favorable coverage in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Newsday, the Daily News, WABC-TV, and a range of other mainstream and trade outlets.  The agency also helped broaden the company’s geographic market beyond the greater New York City area by attracting positive media attention in upstate New York, Maryland, New Jersey, Massachusetts and other locations.  The strategic program has enhanced the company’s image among customers, as well as its parent company.  As a result, The Marino Organization has emerged as an important partner in the CES marketing team.
